Job summary

The New York Times Company is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to support month-end close, journal entry processing, and account reconciliations. You will partner with business managers and accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities include analytical reviews of GL accounts, inventory coordination, and resolving GL discrepancies while upholding the company’s commitment to independent journalism and ethical reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years general accounting experience.
• Ability to convert complex data into actionable plans.
• Detail-oriented with strong accounting knowledge.
• Experience with accounting concepts and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical review of complex GL accounts and research unusual results.
• Coordinate inventory reporting with the Abinet inventory subsystem.
• Work with managers to determine month end journal entries.
• Assist with ad hoc or customized analytics.
• Apply proper accounting treatment to new transactions and post journal entries.
• Respond to questions from business units on GL and Workday matters.
• Investigate and resolve GL inconsistencies.
• Suggest process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
