Austin Powder is seeking a GL Accountant in Beachwood, OH to join the U.S. Center of Excellence.

The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, supporting month-end close, and ensuring GAAP-compliant financial reporting processes across the organization. The successful candidate will post journal entries, perform reconciliations, and collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operations teams to drive accurate and timely financial results.

Qualifications

• Proficient in general ledger accounting and GAAP reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Complete assigned close activities in accordance with close deadlines.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Investigate and resolve accounting issues identified during close.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain documentation.
• Investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
• Ensure compliance with reconciliation standards and policies.
• Support reconciliations for cash, accruals, payroll liabilities, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, prepaids, and other assets.
• Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions; coordinate monthly intercompany confirmations; resolve intercompany differences with affiliates.
• Assist with foreign entity accounting support where applicable.
• Provide financial reporting support as required.

Job Summary

The GL Accountant is responsible for performing and coordinating key general ledger accounting activities within the U.S. Center of Excellence organization. The role supports the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, journal entry preparation, and financial reporting activities.

This position serves as a key contributor to the accounting close process and works closely with the U.S. GL Operations Manager, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operational finance teams to ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The GL Accountant also supports process standardization, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives across U.S. operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Complete assigned close activities in accordance with close deadlines.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Investigate and resolve accounting issues identified during close.

Account Reconciliations

• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
• Maintain supporting documentation for all reconciled accounts.
• Ensure compliance with reconciliation standards and policies.
• Support reconciliations for cash, accruals, payroll liabilities, inventory-related accounts, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, prepaids, and other assets.

Intercompany Accounting

• Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Support management fee and royalty accounting processes.
• Coordinate monthly intercompany confirmations.
• Resolve intercompany differences with domestic and international affiliates.
• Assist with foreign entity accounting support where applicable.
