Job summary

Pilot is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team in San Francisco. This role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and will be pivotal in monthly close, financial reporting, equity accounting, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of accounting experience in a high-growth SaaS environment, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and experience with equity accounting and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred; candidates actively pursuing CPA licensure will also be considered.
• 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience with a high growth technology-based SaaS company.
• 2-4 years of Big Four public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience supporting annual external audits.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements and footnotes.
• Experience with equity accounting and stock-based compensation (ASC 718).
• Experience maintaining equity records using Carta.
• Experience with Capitalized Internal-Use Software (ASC 350-40).
• Experience with Lease Accounting (ASC 842).
• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with FloQast or BlackLine.
• Advanced Excel Skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries.
• Own assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analyses and investigate significant variances.
• Own assigned components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while consistently meeting close deadlines.
• Own the Company’s equity roll-forward schedules and prepare stock options accounting (ASC 718).
• Coordinate annual audit requests and serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and maintain accounting policies.
