Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking a GIS Specialist to support input, processing, and maintenance of Distribution data within the Geographic Solutions and Services group. The role involves collaboration with local staff and engineering customers and may require non-normal hours and travel for storm restoration efforts.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, with an associate degree or GIS certificate preferred, and a bachelor’s degree in GIS/geography/STEM as a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate degree or GIS certificate preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, or STEM field is a plus.
• Basic GIS knowledge and ability to perform basic spatial queries are expected.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Create engineering construction prints using Esri mapping applications.
• Ensure GIS changes are posted timely and accurately.
• Adhere to mapping standards including offsets, annotation, and symbology.
• Engage in storm restoration activities.
• Validate GIS model connectivity and fix connectivity issues.
• Perform quality control and data validation tasks.
• Demonstrate ownership of assigned work and troubleshoot problems.
• Provide basic GIS application support to users.
• Contribute to the company’s values and teamwork.
