Job summary

The Hartford seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join ERMIT within the GIS team in Hartford, CT. You will design and evolve APIs atop ArcGIS services, focusing on scalable backend components and platform integration.

Key responsibilities include developing RESTful services with Java/Spring Boot on AWS, maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise, and advancing CI/CD practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Hybrid schedule with three in-office days weekly.

Qualifications

2+ years of software engineering with backend focus.
Solid GIS concepts with Esri ArcGIS technologies experience.
Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
Experience with relational databases hosting ArcGIS SDE Enterprise Geodatabases, especially Oracle.
Experience in AWS cloud environments and Terraform.
Proficiency in Python and ArcPy/ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance GIS platform components including experience APIs and supporting UIs.
Design, develop, and optimize RESTful backend services using Java, Spring Boot and AWS with AI mindset.
Install, maintain, and support ArcGIS Enterprise products (Portal, Server, Data Store).
Configure Oracle as an ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase and manage spatial data with ST_Geometry.
Develop Python scripts and Jupyter Notebooks to automate workflows.
Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines aligned with Enterprise DevOps practices.
Collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
