Job summary

Esri is seeking a software engineer to develop Scala web services powering geospatial workflows within ArcGIS Workflow Manager. You will join a cross-functional team delivering scalable, secure software used across diverse industries.

Responsibilities include API design, code reviews, and unit tests, plus contributing across the product stack with languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python. Requires 5+ years and a CS/engineering degree.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position
• Professional experience developing software components using Java or Scala
• Strong understanding of REST web service design and development, including websockets
• Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and best practices
• Proven ability to collaborate across different technical skillsets and areas of expertise
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or STEM related field

Responsibilities

• Develop Scala web services to power user experience and geospatial workflows
• Design and prototype technical solutions with security, performance, scalability, fault-tolerance, and maintainability in mind
• Ensure a high-quality codebase by contributing to code reviews and writing unit tests
• Implement functionality in other areas of the ArcGIS Workflow Manager product with languages such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python
• Participate in agile development processes including design reviews, planning, feature reviews, and retrospectives
• Provide deployment support to AWS for the ArcGIS Workflow Manager SaaS offering
• Stay current with complementary languages and technologies to evolve development skills
