Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Hands-on Staff Software Engineer to modernize enterprise applications across Java/J2EE, AWS, and GCP-based AI enablement. This role partners with business, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions aligned to Hartford standards.

You will lead AWS infrastructure standards, implement IaC patterns, and build GenAI-driven tooling for development and workflow automation, while mentoring engineers and enhancing engineering practices across

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
5+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE experience with Spring Boot, REST/SOAP, JMS, XML/JSON, JDBC, Flink, Camel.

Responsibilities

Modernize enterprise apps using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP, JMS, XML/JSON, JDBC, Flink, Camel.
Partner with business, architecture, and engineering to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
Lead AWS infrastructure standards, reusable cloud patterns, and deployment practices.
Build GenAI and agentic AI solutions for development agents, test agents, and workflow automation.
Develop IaC and automation with CloudFormation, Terraform/CDK, YAML specs, and Python Lambda.
Integrate DevOps, automated tests, pipelines, and monitoring into delivery.
Mentor engineers and promote reusable patterns across teams.
