Job summary

Niyam IT is seeking a Principal Engineer, GIS / Geospatial Solutions to guide geospatial strategy and architecture for federal contracts. You will define reference architectures, lead delivery, and mentor engineering teams while representing Niyam externally.

Role requires hands-on GIS delivery, cloud-native geospatial pipelines, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Remote work is supported with a national scope for collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Geospatial Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• 12+ years of progressive GIS/geospatial engineering experience with architecture-level design.
• Deep hands-on Esri ArcGIS experience (ArcGIS Enterprise/Online/Pro) and geodatabase design.
• Experience architecting cloud-native geospatial platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in Python and other geospatial analytics languages.
• Proven track record leading technical proposals and captures for federal contracts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as company-wide geospatial expert and technical lead for GIS platforms (GeoCube, SPHERE, RisQ).
• Define strategy, reference architectures, and engineering standards for geospatial data pipelines and data architectures.
• Lead architecture and delivery across multiple active contracts and proposals.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to CoC standards and reusable assets.
