Job summary

City of Atlanta is seeking a professional GIS Analyst within the Geographic Information System function of the Department of Watershed Management. The role involves collecting data, creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and producing graphic reports with strong teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration.

The candidate should have hands-on ESRI ArcGIS expertise, be comfortable leading or training others, and work in a hybrid setting with in‑person and remote days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; and two (2) years of specific GIS work experience.
• Master's Degree preferred with five (5) years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Compile, manipulate, and analyze geospatial data
• Perform, design, and implement advanced analysis methods
• Investigate & interpret survey maps/plats
• Produce shapefiles and CAD files for data distribution
• Create digitized GIS maps observing cartographic methods
• Respond to general inquiries from peers & interdepartmental staff
• Follow established work methods, timetables, and performance standards
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and timely
• Assist with updates to operating procedures
• Follow Data Sharing standards
• May train users in new system
• May present ideas to groups
• May lead peers, interns, or consultant staff
• May perform other duties as assigned.
