Job summary

The City of Atlanta is seeking a GIS Analyst within the Geographic Information System function. The role involves leveraging geospatial resources to collect data, create maps, perform spatial analysis, and produce graphic reports.

You will lead and collaborate on multiple GIS projects with a focus on teamwork and data integrity. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field and 2 years of GIS experience, with preference for a master’s degree and 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, manipulates, and analyzes geospatial data
• Performs, designs, and implements advanced analysis methods
• Investigates & interprets survey maps/plats
• Produces shapefiles and CAD files for data distribution
• Creates digitized GIS maps observing cartographic methods
• Responds to general inquiries from peers and interdepartmental staff
• Follows established work methods, timetables, performance standards
• Completes assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner
• Assists with updates to operating procedures
• Follows data sharing procedures and may train users on new systems
• May present ideas to small/medium groups and act as lead to peers
• Performs other duties as assigned.
