Job summary

First Bank (FBNC) in Greenville, SC is seeking a Senior Loan Closer to independently fund US Government Guaranteed Lending (GGL) 7a and Express loans. The role manages the complete life cycle of a loan portfolio with minimal oversight and reports to the GGL Closing Manager.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of GGL experience, strong knowledge of GGL procedures, and excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher; business/financial curriculum preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of GGL experience.
• Knowledge of business financial statements and basic accounting principles.
• In-bank experience in loan/credit operations 3–5 years preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate skills with computer terminals, PCs, mainframe, Word processing, Excel, and specialty software.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Close GGL transactions including business acquisitions, stock purchases, real estate, expansions or refinances.
• Create and distribute weekly needs letter based on loan structure and conditions.
• Coordinate with borrower, attorney, and third parties to gather documents and due diligence.
• Schedule updates and calls for borrowers, bank staff, and attorneys.
• Answer borrower questions to clarify the GGL process and closing details.
• Validate and modify loan structures with the lending team when needed.
• Maintain knowledge of CAFS/E-TRAN and GGL SOPs; pursue relevant training.
• Update Salesforce with active pipeline data weekly.
