Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation in Washington State is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead underground geotechnical engineering for the Curlew mine, supporting safe, efficient, and productive mining operations. You will develop standards and mentor the team while collaborating with operations, contractors and geologists.

The role covers ground control planning, support design, QA/QC, instrumentation, risk management, and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geological/mining/civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Underground geotechnical experience with US mining regulations.
  • Proficiency in rock mechanics design, numerical modeling and ground monitoring.
  • Strong field presence and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
  • Direct ground control planning and finish design for underground excavations.
  • Lead QA/QC for underground backfill and ground support programs.
  • Apply numerical modeling for stope design and sequencing.
  • Implement and manage underground monitoring systems and data analysis.
  • Identify ground control hazards and manage risk with TARP.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on planning, layouts, and backfill strategies.
  • Manage scopes, budgets and timelines for geotechnical projects.
  • Prepare MSHA-compliant plans and support audits.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers and geologists.
