Job summary

CMT Technical Services is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our Geotechnical Engineering Division in Colorado or Wyoming. This role manages geotechnical projects, provides technical leadership to field staff, and supports business development.

The ideal candidate has extensive geotechnical experience, strong client relationships, and the ability to guide teams through complex investigations and designs with high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including work in Colorado.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical analysis, and foundation engineering.
• Experience overseeing geotechnical investigations, field testing, and engineering design recommendations.
• Knowledge of construction materials testing and special inspection services.
• Valid PE license in Colorado.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and work in collaborative environments.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop proposals with cost estimates and schedules for geotechnical investigations and services.
• Plan and oversee geotechnical exploration programs including drilling, sampling, and fieldwork.
• Provide direction to field inspectors, laboratory staff, and engineering personnel.
• Analyze geotechnical data and perform foundation design calculations.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, recommendations, and documentation.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and internal teams to keep projects on time and within scope.
• Maintain and expand client relationships while pursuing new business opportunities.
• Support marketing and business development activities, including proposal work.
