Job summary

CMT Technical Services is seeking a senior geotechnical engineer to lead their geotechnical division in Utah. This role requires exceptional expertise in geotechnical engineering, strong communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to develop new client relationships while maintaining existing ones. The successful candidate will manage project proposals, lead field inspections, and conduct geotechnical exploration programs.

• Valid Utah professional license (P.E.) required.

Job description

CMT is looking for a senior geotechnical engineer who can work in a leadership role within our geotechnical division in Utah.

Responsibilities:

• Develop proposals and determine cost and schedule for investigations.
• Provide direction to technical team in field inspection activities.
• Interact with customers and team members to complete the assigned projects on-time.
• Evaluate team performance and determine training needs to meet performance objectives.
• Maintain existing client relationships and develop new client relationships.
• Develop and execute marketing strategies.
• Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration programs effectively.
• Perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects.
• Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations and prepare technical reports for review by other senior geotechnical engineers.
• Perform basic office administration tasks when needed.

Required Skills:

• Master of science in Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. ∙
• Minimum ten years of related work experience within the State of Utah.
• Proficient in soil mechanics.
• Must have detailed knowledge of both geotechnical and material testing/special inspection services.
• Must have existing client/revenue base for both geotechnical and material testing/special inspection services.
• Able to creatively apply engineering principals to solve new problems. ∙
• Good written and verbal communication skills. ∙
• Able to work effectively in teams. ∙
• Valid Utah professional license (P.E.)
