Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead and manage multidisciplinary projects supporting weapon effects testing and geotechnical initiatives for U.S. government missions.

You will direct field investigations, teach junior staff, and collaborate with government clients to grow enduring R&D programs, applying deep knowledge of rock/soil mechanics, data processing, and analytical workflows.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (Civil), Geologic Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geophysics, Mining Engineering, or related field.
Broad technical breadth including data processing, mechanics, and stress/strain analysis.
Exceptional technical writing, communication and mentoring abilities.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and client-facing work.
Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage projects supporting weapon effects testing and geotechnical initiatives.
Direct field investigations, test planning and execution, and post-test analyses.
Coach engineers and scientists; mentor junior staff and develop team capability.
Prepare, review, and deliver technical reports, publications, and briefings.
Manage client interactions and maintain strong government relationships.
Support field testing campaigns in challenging environments and with specialized equipment.
