Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in the U.S. seeks a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Dams & Levees practice with flexible hybrid or remote scheduling. Positions available in Louisville, KY; Johnson City, TN; Nashville, TN; Knoxville, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Asheville, NC; or Huntington, WV.

You will lead geotechnical capabilities, mentor staff, and drive multi-disciplinary project teams while expanding client relationships on complex dam projects and flood-risk infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Geological, Civil Engineering or related field; P.E. license required.
• Advanced degrees preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of engineering consulting experience in dam/geotechnical projects.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Experience with project management and business development.
• Willingness to travel for site visits.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of US dam design practices (USACE, FERC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage and perform geotechnical, geoenvironmental, civil, mining, and/or geological engineering field investigations.
• Leading dam safety reviews for dams.
• Working with numerical modeling software for stability, seepage and settlement/deformation analysis.
• Preparing and coordinating the integration of design calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and permit applications.
• Managing projects to achieve goals for technical excellence, budget, schedule, quality, client satisfaction and profitability.
• Reviewing and managing written document production.
• Business development – including supporting/leading new clients and obtaining repeat business, leading proposals.
• Staff management and mentoring; and
• Participation in professional development opportunities.
