My client, a testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) company with an established geotechnical division in Houston, is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. This is a chance to take ownership of technical delivery on a varied caseload, from residential and commercial developments to TxDOT, municipal, and industrial projects across the Gulf Coast, with a firm that holds TxDOT and AASHTO accreditations and a strong regional reputation.
The Role:
- Plan and oversee geotechnical field investigations (borings, CPT, piezometers, in-situ testing) across residential, commercial, industrial, and public works projects
- Lead engineering analysis: shallow and deep foundation design (drilled shafts, driven and augercast piles), settlement, slope stability, and expansive soil evaluation (PVR, swell/shrink potential)
- Prepare and seal geotechnical investigation reports, pavement design recommendations, and engineering correspondence
- Act as engineer of record on projects requiring a Texas PE seal
- Own client relationships and serve as the primary technical contact on assigned projects
- Coordinate with field technicians, drillers, and lab staff to keep projects on schedule and on spec
- Contribute to proposals, scoping, and fee estimation for new work
- Mentor junior engineers and EITs
- Liaise directly with regulatory and public agencies (City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, HCFCD) as needed
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
- Active Texas PE license required
- 5+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in the Gulf Coast region
- Track record as engineer of record on reports involving deep foundation design and/or expansive clay soils
- Strong working knowledge of IBC as adopted locally, TxDOT specifications, and City of Houston design standards
- Experience on TxDOT, municipal, or flood control projects strongly preferred
Nice to Have:
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering
- Experience with Houston-area challenges such as growth faults, subsidence, high groundwater, or soft coastal soils
- Prior experience mentoring junior staff or leading a small team
- Existing relationships across Houston public works, land development, or the petrochemical/industrial sector
What’s on Offer:
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience
- 401(k) with match
- PTO and holidays
- Support for license renewals and continued professional development
