Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist, Geospatial to join our Mission Innovation team. You will bridge scientific first principles and market-ready data products for EO/IR imagery, developing prototype products and validating concepts while engaging customers to define tomorrow's missions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in a relevant technical field.
• 5+ years in geospatial research and imagery data product development.
• Strong foundation in geospatial imagery analysis, spectral science, and physics-based remote sensing.
• Experience with infrared, multispectral, hyperspectral remote sensing.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or Julia for image processing.
• Experience with geospatial data manipulation at pixel level.
• Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements.
• Willingness to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct first-principles analysis to formulate hypotheses for EO/IR imagery applications.
• Perform feasibility studies, literature reviews, and trade studies for early-stage concepts.
• Analyze and manipulate pixel-level geospatial and spectral datasets to extract insights.
• Develop prototype EO/IR imagery products and sample intelligence outputs.
• Support customer discovery and translate pain points into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with product, business development, and engineering to identify markets and technologies.
• Assist in creating technical proposals and white papers.
