Job summary

Murphy Oil Corporation is seeking a Senior Geoscientist to join the Gulf of America Near Field Exploration team in Houston. The role focuses on generating exploration and development prospects through seismic interpretation and integrated data, with cross-disciplinary collaboration across Drilling, Subsurface and Regulatory groups.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Geology or Geophysics with 7+ years in oil and gas, deepwater GOA experience preferred, and a track record in field development

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Geophysics required.
• 7+ years in oil and gas exploration and development with Deepwater GOA experience preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a team and influence asset strategy with cross-disciplinary inputs.
• Experience articulating subsurface opportunities, risks and uncertainties.
• Strong collaboration with Reservoir Engineers and other disciplines.
• Experience with 3D seismic interpretation and well planning.

Responsibilities

• Identify, mature, and deliver opportunities to operated facilities.
• Assess and recommend drilling of new wells and infill wells.
• Interpret seismic and well logs; generate maps and cross sections; present findings.
• Pre-drill well preparation and planning; interface with Drilling, Subsurface, Regulatory and Partners.
• Assist with well planning and provide operations support in drilling/rig program.
• Coordinate technical interactions with partners and regulatory authorities.
