Job summary

Florida Canyon Mining, Inc. is seeking a Chief Geologist to lead the geology function at the Florida Canyon Mine.

You will oversee geological modeling, drilling, sampling, QA/QC, data management, and ore-quality programs to support safe, compliant mine planning and production decisions. The role requires 10+ years in open-pit gold geology, 3+ years of supervisory experience, and advanced software proficiency with Vulcan, Leapfrog, and ArcGIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related geoscience field.
• 10+ years in open-pit gold geology and resource modeling.
• 3+ years formal leadership/supervisory experience.
• Expertise in geological interpretation, modeling, QA/QC, and reconciliation.
• Experience with drilling programs, budgets, contractors, and reporting timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site geology function with safe, effective priorities and budgets.
• Provide coaching and development for geologists and technicians.
• Develop and maintain geological interpretations and models.
• Oversee mapping, logging, sampling, assay QA/QC, and data management.
• Direct in-fill drilling design, budget, schedule, and contractor performance.
• Manage ore-control programs and resource quality services support.
• Lead reconciliation between mine, model, and mill; address variances.
• Ensure deliverables are accurate, auditable, and on schedule.
• Identify data gaps, risks, and opportunities; coordinate follow-ups.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Mine Ops, Process, and enviro teams.
• Oversee budgets, labs, contractors, and external consultants.
• Review geological reports, model releases, and technical assumptions.
• Champion Health, Safety, and Environment in fieldwork and activities.
• Build a collaborative geology team and perform other duties as assigned.
