Qualifications

• PhD in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral research experience in genomics or related areas.
• Extensive hands-on experience with various NGS platforms and library preparation methods.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis.
• Strong understanding of genetic principles, molecular mechanisms, and statistical genetics.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex genomic studies, including sequencing experiments and data analysis.
• Develop and optimize protocols for DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
• Analyze large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
• Interpret results to identify genetic variations, regulatory elements, and their functional impact.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and other research staff to integrate diverse data types.
• Present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific forums in Welkom.
