Job summary

Meta is seeking a Generator Engineer to join the Design Engineering and Construction Operations Engineering team in Menlo Park, CA. You will help manage a growing fleet of standby power for data centers from design through long-term operation and optimization.

You will lead complex generator projects, coordinate vendor engagements with Caterpillar, Cummins and MTU, and support site commissioning, with 20–30% travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, or related engineering field.
• 10+ years of engineering, operations, or technical program management experience in power generation or critical infra.
• Technical knowledge of diesel engines and standby generation systems across major OEMs (Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU).
• Experience managing vendor/OEM relationships and developing technical specs or SOWs.
• Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex generator engineering projects including root cause analysis and design enhancements across the global fleet.
• Evaluate system performance for load management and capacity planning.
• Develop metrics, health dashboards, and reporting to inform decisions.
• Review new and retrofit generator designs and commissioning plans for accuracy.
• Serve as engineering escalation point for generator issues across data center sites.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Design, Quality, Data Science, EHS, and operations.
