Job Summary

Alliant Energy is hiring an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join the team at Columbia generating station, primarily focused on balance‑of‑plant equipment for the 1200MW coal unit. The role includes troubleshooting faults, directing repair scopes, executing projects from scoping through completion with contractor management, and conducting equipment inspections and health assessments to meet statutory obligations.

What you will do

• Diagnose and resolve equipment faults, providing timely technical direction and repair scope.
• Lead projects from scoping, planning and budgeting through execution, including onsite contractor management.
• Conduct equipment inspections and perform health assessments to support troubleshooting and regulatory compliance.
• Apply mechanical and structural codes, equipment maintenance practices, and failure‑mode analysis to ensure reliability.
• Prepare technical studies, project documentation and detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Manage project budgets, apply FIN102 requirements, and communicate anticipated budget changes.
• Interpret corporate financial statements and PUC citations to assess their impact on rate payers and shareholders.
• Support generation facility outages and other duties that support Alliant Energy’s values.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced personnel and interns.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited engineering program (Engineering Accreditation Commission).

Required Experience

Seven (7) years of related experience.
