Wilson Elser is seeking a Senior General Liability Attorney in Chicago, IL. The role requires handling general insurance defense matters, trial experience, and senior leadership in litigations across transportation, premises, construction, and products liability.

The position offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement with opportunities for discretionary bonuses and comprehensive benefits. Base salary ranges from $190,000 to $200,000 with a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in Illinois.
• 15+ years of general casualty litigation experience.
• First and/ or second chair experience strongly desired.
• Trial experience required.
• Insurance defense experience required.
• Experience in general liability, premises liability, products liability, construction, and transportation.
• Deposition and motion practice experience required.
• Superior analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a litigation caseload, helping oversee cases from beginning to end.
• Actively participate in trials, including preparation, courtroom appearances, and trial proceedings.
• Conduct legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients, demonstrating strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and offices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment.
• Draft case analysis reports to client stakeholders with an eye towards developing proactive resolution strategies.
