Job summary

Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior General Liability Attorney with 8+ years of defense litigation experience to handle a demanding caseload and interact directly with sophisticated clients. This hybrid role offers flexible scheduling and exposure to national clients.

You will work with in-house counsel and multi-office teams on complex matters while mentoring junior attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of defense litigation experience.
• Experience with defending Personal Injury, General Liability, Catastrophic Injury, Transportation, and other civil matters preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Client-facing experience preferred.
• First-chair trial experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a complex defense litigation caseload through inception to resolution, including trial or settlement.
• Develop and implement case strategy, including early case assessment and discovery planning.
• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda in state and federal courts.
• Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and work with expert witnesses.
• Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, arbitrations and other proceedings.
• Provide strategic legal advice and regular updates to in-house counsel and clients.
• Collaborate with partners and colleagues across offices on multi‑jurisdictional matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff.
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness prep and exhibit management.
• Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality legal work.

Wilson Elser Houston office is currently seeking a Senior General Liability Attorney with experience in general liability, personal injury, transportation, and/or catastrophic injury. Responsibilities

• Independently manage a complex defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including trial, mediation, or negotiated settlement
• Develop and implement case strategy, including early case assessment, motion practice, discovery planning, and trial preparation
• Draft and argue substantive motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda in state and federal courts
• Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and work closely with expert witnesses throughout the litigation process
• Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
• Provide strategic legal advice and regular case status updates to clients, including in‑house counsel and insurance representatives
• Collaborate with partners and colleagues across offices on complex litigation matters and multi‑jurisdictional cases
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff as appropriate
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and trial strategy development
• Maintain strong client relationships while delivering high‑quality legal work and responsive client service

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in Texas
• 8+ years of defense litigation
• Experience with defending Personal Injury, General Liability, Catastrophic Injury, Transportation, and other civil litigation matters preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Client‑facing experience preferred
• Ability to integrate into a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
• Legal project management experience is helpful
• First‑chair trial experience a plus
