Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Sr. Accountant – General Ledger within the Financial Management Services Department.

This advanced role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, at least 3 years of accounting experience, and familiarity with governmental accounting concepts and ERP systems. The position offers full benefits, a Monday–Friday schedule, and potential remote work after six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience.
• CPA credentials preferred.
• Certified Public Finance Officer credentials preferred.
• 3+ years of finance/accounting experience in government preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts and GAAP.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations
• Monitor general ledger accounts
• Review/approve/post journal entries; month-end and year-end closing
• Provide assistance during audits
• Support internal/external customers and City departments to resolve accounting issues
• Any other duties that may be assigned.
