Job summary

Flyover Attractions is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant in Chicago for a pivotal role supporting financial reporting and accounting operations across multiple sites. You will collaborate with the Controller and senior leadership to ensure accuracy, GAAP compliance, and scalable financial processes.

This hybrid position includes standing up a new ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central), managing multi-site ledgers, and guiding post-acquisition alignment efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA/CA or equivalent designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience.
• GAAP and IFRS knowledge; multi-region exposure.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Monitor fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
• Prepare month-end journal entries and working papers.
• Analyze GL accounts and summarize variances.
• Support audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable activities as needed.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes to ensure GAAP compliance.
• Contribute to process and system improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Senior General Ledger Accountant is a senior accounting team member for a growing immersive entertainment company operating across four sites: United States (2), Canada, and Iceland. This role supports accounting operations and financial reporting across the Flyover Attractions platform.

Partnering closely with the Controller, VP, Finance & Accounting and Flyover leadership, this role brings strong technical accounting expertise and ensures accuracy, compliance, and financial discipline across the business.

The Senior General Ledger Accountant will also support in the post-acquisition alignment process, including assisting standing up a new ERP system (Microsoft Business Central), separating from legacy systems, and building scalable financial infrastructure for a growing multi-site organization.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office.

What you'll do

• Coordinate and support the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages.
• Own the balance sheet reconciliation and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
• Monitor fixed assets, prepaid expense, accruals and intercompany accounts
• Prepare month end journal entries (accruals, interco, prepaids, fixed assets, etc.) and working papers
• Analyze and reconcile GL accounts for month-end ensuring all accounts are accurately reconciled
• Review and analyze financial results, identifying unusual variances and trends
• Prepare annual audit information and supporting documents. Liaise with auditors
• Support Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable activities as needed
• Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation for external auditors
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes to ensure compliance with GAAP and company standards
• Contribute to improvements in accounting processes, systems, and reporting workflows
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting designation strongly preferred (CPA, CA, or equivalent)
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Project accounting experience is considered an asset

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:

• Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS principles and financial statements
• Demonstrated experience overseeing accounting operations across multiple regions or countries, ideally within the USA and Canada
• Flexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve accurate results on time
• Must have experience with the ERP system Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar ERP system
• Proficient with the full Microsoft environment, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint
• Detail-oriented, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision
