Job summary

Cincinnatus LLC is seeking a senior engineering expert to collaborate with a leading AI lab's research and program management teams. You will review engineering knowledge work, craft instruction specifications and golden solutions, and design benchmarks that measure real-world model improvement.

This is a full-time W-2 engagement with on-site work in the Bay Area. The role requires 4+ years of professional engineering experience, deep domain specialization, and strong AI fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• An MS or PhD strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of substantive professional engineering practice shipping production software or engineered systems.
• Genuine specialization in at least one area (e.g., distributed systems, security/cryptography, embedded/firmware, ML systems, developer tooling).
• Clear progression to a senior level (Senior/Staff/Principal/Architect) with ownership of systems and design decisions.
• Visible record of engineering output (shipped systems, patents, open source, or published work).
• Hands-on use of large language models in professional work and ability to distinguish strong answers from plausible but wrong ones.

Responsibilities

• QA the quality of engineering knowledge work tasks and model outputs.
• Write instruction specs and golden solutions that define what “correct” looks like.
• Define new engineering tasks and benchmarks reflecting real-world practice.
• Collaborate with researchers to calibrate and maintain standards.
