Job summary

Moog Inc. in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Senior Gage Design and Dimensional Engineer to serve as a technical expert in GD&T and fixture design for production inspection and hardware evaluation.

You will interpret ASME Y14.5 and Y14.43, design gauges and tooling, coach on GD&T, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and suppliers to improve dimensional quality and manufacturability.

Onsite role in Salt Lake City with a 9/80 schedule on first shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred; equivalent advanced technical training and directly relevant experience will be considered.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in gage design, dimensional engineering, tooling design, metrology, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in ASME Y14.5 and proven hands-on experience with ASME Y14.43.
• Strong experience designing or reviewing custom gauges, fixtures, or tooling for production applications.
• Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and make sound technical judgments related to measurement and conformance.
• Strong interpersonal/communication skills for collaboration with internal and external customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams; ability to create technical documentation and train others.
• Ability to work onsite in Salt Lake City, UT.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert in GD&T and functional gauge design.
• Interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.43 to ensure part design is measurable and inspectable.
• Design, review, and improve gauges, fixtures, and related tooling for production inspection.
• Provide technical guidance on drawing interpretation, conformance, inspection feasibility, and dimensional disposition.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Inspection, Manufacturing, and suppliers to improve dimensional quality, inspection methods, and manufacturability.
• Identify opportunities to improve drawings, tolerancing, and inspection approaches for existing and new products.
• Deliver technical coaching and training in GD&T and gauge design.
• Support technical definition quality within drawing review and release workflows.
