Job summary

Weston Solutions, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Laboratory Chemist in Edison, NJ to support EPA REAC projects. You will perform GC/MS analyses across air, soil, water, and oil matrices in fixed and mobile labs, delivering defensible data and technical reports for environmental response and remediation teams.

The role demands 10+ years in analytical chemistry, strong MS/GC skills, LIMS familiarity, and knowledge of hazardous waste handling. Travel to field deployments may be required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemistry with at least 30 credit hours in chemistry.
• 10+ years of analytical chemistry experience including 5+ years with instrumentation.
• Strong knowledge of organic chemistry, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
• Experience with SW-846 methods for organic analysis in soil, water, and oil.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Understanding of hazardous waste characterization, storage, and labeling.

Responsibilities

• Execute GC/MS analyses of organic compounds across multiple environmental matrices in fixed and mobile labs.
• Deliver accurate, defensible analytical data using EPA methods (8260, 8270, TO-15, 8082A) within turnaround times.
• Prepare and process samples, standards, and reagents using extraction and preparation techniques (e.g., LLE, Soxhlet/Soxtherm, SPE).
• Interpret and evaluate mass spectral data to identify compounds using spectral libraries.
• Produce clear, concise analytical reports for clients and project teams.
• Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation to ensure performance and data integrity.
• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods using GC systems with detectors such as FID, PID, and MS.
