Scopely is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Gaming Backend) to join WWE Champions. Location options include the United States, Canada (remote) or Mexico City (hybrid).

You will design, build, and evolve backend systems powering core gameplay and live-service operations at scale. You will drive incident management, reliability hardening, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality player experiences.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience in gaming or large-scale live-service applications.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering with server-side languages and frameworks.
• Experience collaborating with game client engineers (Unity/C#) to deliver integrated fullstack features.
• Proven track record of designing scalable systems and managing live-service operations.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience working with content pipelines and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend systems powering core gameplay and live-service operations at scale.
• Drive live-ops excellence through incident management and reliability improvements.
• Enable cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality player experiences and technical roadmap.
• Define the technical roadmap for backend initiatives with scalable, high-performance architecture.
• Lead design and delivery of features bridging server-side logic with game client requirements.
• Mentor cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA, Analytics) to unblock challenges.
• Contribute to hands-on feature development with emphasis on code quality and maintainability.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt and bottlenecks to improve velocity.
