Job summary

Pinnacle Solutions, an Akima company, seeks a skilled Game Developer to join our hybrid development team. You will implement gameplay features, debug issues, and collaborate with engineers and artists to deliver high-quality games and simulations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in game development, strong knowledge of Unity and/or Unreal Engine, and experience with modern programming languages and version control. A security clearance may be required by government contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Game Development, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in game development or related field.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D game mechanics and programming languages (C#, C++).
• Experience with Unity and/or Unreal Engine; ability to learn proprietary tools.

Pinnacle Solutions is looking for a passionate and motivated Game Developer to join our virtual development team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of programming and game design principles, and a desire to learn, lead, and grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude, and be willing to take ownership and help enhance the capabilities of our growing engineering team. This position will provide an opportunity to apply academic and professional experience to the creation of serious games. Daily work will require experience in the Unity and/or Unreal game engines and the ability to learn custom frameworks and toolsets.

This position is contingent upon contract award and funding. Applicants selected may be offered but cannot begin work until funding has been confirmed.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with game developers, artists, and software developers to implement gameplay features.
• Follow development standards using proprietary development tools.
• Debug and resolve bugs, performance issues, and gameplay inconsistencies.
• Review other game developers’ work & provide constructive feedback in accordance with our development standards.
• Participate in regular development reviews and team meetings. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D game mechanics.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C#, C++, etc.).
• Adept with Unity and/or Unreal Engine, strong problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail are a must.
• Ability to work in a team and take constructive feedback.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce, SubVersion, etc.).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance may be required.
• Any clearance requirements for this position are established by the government contract.

Desired Qualification:

• Familiarity with Unreal Blueprint.
• Basic knowledge of game physics, or AI systems.
• Familiarity with agile development workflows.
• Experience in AR/VR development.
• Experience with WebGL development.
• Experience in the Lua programming language.
• Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Bitbucket, etc.)
• One or more shipped titles.
