Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its General Accounting team in a role focused on GAAP compliance, journal entries, and financial reporting. The position involves support for monthly closes and management inquiries, requiring strong analytical ability and communication skills.

You will operate in a high-production environment, collaborating with management to ensure accurate financial information and to support strategic decision making.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with large enterprise systems like JD Edwards/Oracle e1 is a plus.
• Proficient MS Office applications, especially Excel, with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish, interpret, and analyze complex accounting records to support strategic decision making and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support the monthly close process
• Review of financial reports to ensure the accuracy and clarity of information presented
• Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis, to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
• Participate in monthly review of financial package to ensure the accuracy of financial information and to assist in strategic decision making
• Respond to inquiries from Management/Executives, related to monthly financial package, to ensure clear communication and high level of customer service
• Assist Manager with research related inquiries to support strategic decision making
• Perform special projects and additional assignments, as assigned, to support the department
• Participate in cross training efforts that support personal development and provide departmental coverage
