AMPERA is seeking a hands-on Lead Fusion Engineer to own the plasma neutron source from finished design to commissioned operation. You will manage design closure, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and the safety case, delivering a vacuum- and HV-commissioned system that yields plasma and neutron data.

You will report to the CTO and work onsite in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, guiding technicians, coordinating university partners, and coordinating with Supply Chain to track every item from order to

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years hands-on experience building and operating experimental plasma, accelerator, ion-source or pulsed-power systems.
• Experience with high-voltage DC systems 50 kV+ including terminations and HV safety interlocks.
• Vacuum tech experience: CF/KF hardware, turbo and dry pumps, leak detection.
• Experience with RF plasma sources or RF power delivery and matching networks.
• Ability to write hazard analyses and operating procedures for hazardous equipment.

• Own design closure and lead independent review with change control.
• Lead high-voltage system development end-to-end and ensure safety interlocks.
• Complete RF generator integration and achieve reliable plasma ignition.
• Commission UHV pumping, gas handling and leak detection.
• Develop plasma diagnostics and neutron/gamma detection approaches.
• Architect control systems and oversee radiation safety interfaces.
• Drive procurement, supplier management, and RFP processes.
• Oversee build, commissioning and procedures through gates.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate university partners.
