Job summary

AMPERA in Florida is seeking a hands-on Lead Fusion Engineer to own its first plasma neutron source and drive it from a finished preliminary design to a commissioned operating system.

The role covers design closure, high voltage, RF plasma source, vacuum, diagnostics, controls and safety, procurement, build and commissioning, reporting to the CTO. Requires 7+ years in plasma physics or related fields and willingness to work onsite in Palm Beach Gardens.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in plasma physics or related field.
• 7+ years hands-on experience with experimental plasma or pulsed-power systems.
• Experience with high-voltage DC systems 50 kV+.
• Practical vacuum experience in UH and CF/KF hardware.
• Experience with RF plasma sources or RF power delivery.
• Proven ability to write hazard analyses and commissioning procedures.
• Ability to work onsite full time in a hands-on lab.

Responsibilities

• Design closure and sign-off on the engineering package.
• Own HV system end-to-end including interlocks.
• Develop RF generator, matching networks and antenna integration.
• Commission vacuum and gas handling systems and diagnostic setup.
• Lead procurement, vendor management and integration.
• Hire and coordinate technicians and report to CTO.
