Job summary

The American Heart Association in Charlotte seeks a Vice President of Development to lead and grow fundraising campaigns focused on donor relationships and community impact. This high-visibility role manages 11 staff and five direct reports, driving revenue through strategic campaign development and volunteer engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience and 5 years for supervisory experience.
• Experience leading and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-suite level preferred.
• Direct knowledge of special event fundraising tactics preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce.
• Ability to travel the Charlotte area daily; reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift and/or move large objects as needed.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership to deepen donor relationships and fundraising impact.
• Lead and manage a team of 11 staff, including five direct reports, with strategic coaching and accountability.
• Oversee campaigns and volunteer engagement to achieve revenue targets.
• Position the Charlotte market for growth across Heart Ball, Go Red for Women, and Heart Walk campaigns.
• Identify, recruit, onboard, and engage volunteer partners and leaders to champion fundraising success.
