Job summary

Sunflower Foundation seeks a Senior Accountant in Topeka, KS to ensure accurate accounting, strong internal controls, and timely financial reporting. You will support GAAP compliance, grant accounting, and regulatory filings while collaborating with the CFO and program staff.

The role involves managing accounts, GL reconciliations, budget forecasting, and coordination with auditors to maintain financial integrity and donor stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with Fluxx is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable/receivable, vendor setup, and invoicing.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger and grant accounts; assist with year-end closes.
• Support payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare audit schedules and assist auditors during audits.
• Oversee grant accounting and compliance throughout the grant lifecycle.
• Provide financial information for donor and program reports.
