Job summary

CAIS, a leader in alternative investments education and access, seeks a Senior Associate for the Fund Controlling team. The role focuses on overseeing NAV production, coordinating fund audits, and supporting broader accounting and operational needs of the funds.

Strong audit and fund accounting experience, plus proficiency with AI tools to improve processes, are preferred. The position offers a hybrid work model in New York and is eligible for a performance bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
• 4–6 years of experience in public accounting, fund administration, or fund accounting with fund audits.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, US GAAP, NAV calculations, and fund structures.
• Experience coordinating audit deliverables and working with auditors, administrators, tax providers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly hedge fund and quarterly private equity fund NAV production by third-party Administrators; review NAVs.
• Coordinate annual fund audits from planning through completion; manage timelines and respond to requests.
• Review financial statements, audit workpapers, NAV files, and supporting accounting records for accuracy.
• Liaise with auditors, administrators, tax providers, valuation specialists, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely NAV, audit, and tax deliverables.
• Support tax filings, investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, cash management, reconciliations, and expenses.
• Evaluate accounting and operational implications of fund terms, investments, valuations, facilities, and activity.
• Strengthen controls, documentation, and reporting; use AI to streamline audit prep and fund accounting processes.
• Support additional fund accounting, operational, and strategic projects.
