Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Technical Specialist, Functional Safety Engineer in Southfield, MI. The role requires hands-on ISO 26262 experience at OEM/Tier 1, leading safety work products and contributing to vehicle safety architecture.

The candidate will define safety concepts, review FS documents, and collaborate with hardware, software, design, and validation engineers in a fast-paced environment. On-site in Southfield, MI.

Qualifications

• Extensive in-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 and major safety work products.
• At least one year of experience performing SOTIF analysis and related work.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering functional safety analyses.
• Experience supporting external reviews of functional safety work.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of functional safety system requirements and decomposition.
• Review and approve HARA, FSR, TSRs, validation tests.
• Contribute to the vehicle architecture from the functional safety perspective.
• Lead development of functional safety processes and tools.
• Oversee the program functional safety readiness metrics.
• Lead development of SOTIF requirements for autonomous driving and core subsystems.
• Define the functional safety concept for system, hardware, and software per ISO 26262.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, design, and validation engineers to ensure design meets safety requirements.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop hazard analysis and safety concept.
• Support functional safety validation tests.
• Work with internal teams and suppliers to define FS interfaces between project partners.
