Job summary

Paper is seeking a Software Engineer to lead fullstack development, collaborating with product managers, UI/UX designers, and both front-end and back-end teams. You will build secure, accessible, high-performance features and guide technical execution across projects.

Requirements include 5+ years in Vue.js/React with PHP, REST API experience, and strong OO/Microservice knowledge. The role offers a remote-first environment with generous equity options and ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Vue.js or React and PHP.
• Experience designing and scaling REST APIs returning JSON.
• Strong OO, microservice and API architecture knowledge.
• Familiarity with IaC, containers, modern DevOps, and automated tests.
• Experience with AI/LLM APIs and prompt engineering is a plus.
• Solid SQL skills for MySQL or PostgreSQL and query tuning.
• Commitment to TDD, unit/integration/end-to-end tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain frontend and backend components.
• Build responsive UIs using Vue or React and ensure performance.
• Translate UI/UX designs into clean, maintainable code.
• Implement testing: unit, integration, E2E (Vitest, Jest, Cypress).
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and developers to deliver scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cross-stack issues (app, DB, integrations).
• Contribute to architecture discussions and new tech evaluations.
• Mentor junior developers and foster shared ownership.
• Drive architectural decisions for scalable, reliable systems.
• Maintain code quality with reviews, tests, and documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations to handle incidents.
