Job summary

Postman is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, and maintain software across languages and platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship new features, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor others in best practices.

In-office role based in Austin, TX, with a focus on API-first products and customer-focused support. The role emphasizes strong TypeScript experience, multi-language proficiency, and active collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in a startup.
• Proficient in TypeScript and/or Python, Java, Go, C#, or PHP.
• Strong technical skills with developer tools and APIs.
• Proficiency across multiple languages, esp. TypeScript.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain software using modern languages.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various programming languages and technologies.
• Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their needs, and provide technical support when required.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, promoting best practices in software development.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure high‑quality code and maintainable systems.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into our products where applicable.
• Contribute to the overall architecture and technical strategy of the company.

About You

• 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in a startup environment.
• Proficient in Typescript, and/or Python, Java, Go, C#, or PHP.
• Strong technical skills and experience working with developer tools and APIs.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including TypeScript.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast- paced, agile environment.

Nice To Have

• Deep technical expertise in SDKs and Docs.
• Experience creating technical content, such as documentation and tutorials.
• Experience working in a distributed organization, and ability to collaborate with teams in different time zones and cultures.

What Else?

The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $190,000 to $212,500 plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
