Job summary

Postscript, the AI messaging platform powering 20,000+ Shopify brands, seeks a Senior Fullstack Engineer in the Customer Context team. You will help build scalable services, APIs, and data pipelines with a strong backend focus, leveraging AI-first development to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building large-scale data-intensive backend systems and APIs.
• Active daily user of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, React, and TypeScript.
• Knowledge of event-driven distributed systems and Kafka, plus distributed data processing tech (Flink/Spark).
• Experience growing systems under production customer load to multi-terabyte scale.
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and observability tooling (Datadog/Signoz).
• Strong communication and ability to work async with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Take deep ownership of system areas on your team and become the go-to technical expert.
• Investigate, design, and implement solutions across distributed systems with ambiguity.
• Architect and maintain highly available REST APIs and backend services.
• Reduce technical debt and improve long-term maintainability while delivering now.
• Build with agentic AI workflows, owning outputs and aligning work queues.
• Stay at the forefront of AI tooling and practices and bring techniques back to the team.
• Contribute to AI integration strategies across engineering and workflows.
• Collaborate with product, data, and GTM teams in an async-first environment.
• Identify single points of failure and improve resilience and knowledge redundancy.
• Improve engineering tools and workflows to reduce friction.
