The Position
GameChanger users already live stream and watch millions of hours of youth sporting events and clips using the GameChanger app. We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help lead the expansion of our video capabilities. You will be part of the newly formed video team, responsible for our end-to-end video pipeline, evolving our live streaming and post-game video features, simplifying developer experience, and ensuring a scalable platform for millions of streams and highlights annually.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll build and support our video platform, collaborating across teams to enhance streaming capabilities, handle scale, and improve user experience. You’ll influence decisions across the video stack, including mobile broadcast frameworks, backend ingest/transcoding, VoD storage, and hooks for workflows like highlight clipping, advertising, overlays, and AI workflows. You’ll report to the Senior Engineering Manager of the Video team.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and support video features across the entire pipeline, including ingestion, transcoding, storage, and playback at scale.
• Develop APIs for our backend video platform written in TypeScript.
• Collaborate with mobile, web, machine learning, and platform teams on projects to improve user experiences.
• Review designs and code/PRs.
• Build internal SDKs, frameworks, and tooling for seamless video integration.
• Develop real-time monitoring and troubleshooting tools, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Assist in interviewing and onboarding new engineers.
• Support production systems during off-hours as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in video/audio streaming, especially live streaming of user-generated content.
• Knowledge of video packaging, codecs, and tools like MPEG, HLS, DASH, H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1, RTMP, SRT, FFMPEG, DRM.
• Hands-on experience designing and building live and VOD streaming workflows at scale.
• 5+ years coding in languages like C#/Golang/C++/Rust/Python, and experience with Node/TypeScript, React, Kotlin, or Swift.
• Familiarity with mobile video broadcasting and optimization challenges.
• Experience with video players and building APIs/SDKs across the stack.
• Willingness to mentor and document best practices.
• Frontend development experience in web, iOS, or Android.
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred) with scalable video pipelines.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools.
