Job summary

Arc is seeking a seasoned software engineer to own full-stack development for its marine electrification platform. You’ll design, build, test, and deploy customer-facing applications across frontend, backend, and infra, including boat infotainment systems, mobile apps, and web interfaces.

You’ll collaborate with product to craft boundary-pushing UX, develop internal tools for manufacturing, and identify software opportunities to accelerate Arc’s growth.

The marine industry supports recreation, global commerce, and national defense. And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We're now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. This is a full-time role. As a hardware company, we prefer in-person work at our factory in Torrance, CA, but are open to exceptional remote candidates willing to regularly travel for work. You’ll report to the Director of Software and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters.

What You’ll Do

• Designing, building, testing, and deploying customer facing applications including the boat infotainment systems, mobile app, and website across frontend, backend, and infra
• Working closely with our product team to develop boundary-pushing user experiences
• Developing internal tools to improve our manufacturing processes
• Identifying opportunities to use software to accelerate the company’s trajectory

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience that covers both frontend and backend
• Strong grasp of the fundamentals of software engineering and passion for developing high quality, maintainable software
• Excellent interpersonal skills in both written and verbal media

Bonus qualifications

• Appreciation for customer-driven products and beautiful design
• Prior experience with Typescript, Python, and/or Rust
• Prior experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Google Cloud Platform
• Prior experience with software in a hardware domain, such as embedded devices, mobile apps, IoT, and/or infotainment systems
• Comfortable pushing an fast but sustainable pace
• Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy

What we offer

The base salary for this role is $190,000 annually
