Job summary

San Diego Stealth Startup is seeking a Senior Staff or Principal engineer to own the architecture of our internal platforms and cloud infrastructure. These systems support operations, finance, and lab teams, as well as external customers, and must scale reliably across the business.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with modern cloud infrastructure spanning architecture, deployment, cost, and reliability management.
• Full-stack programming across a modern frontend (React) and backend with data modeling (SQL/NoSQL) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Track record building internal tools/platforms from ambiguous requirements that scale to production use.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with non-engineering stakeholders (ops, finance).

Responsibilities

• Architect and build internal platforms and tools used by operations, finance, lab teams, and external customers.
• Build robust cloud infrastructure to manage provisioning, cost, reliability, and security as data volume scales.
• Design data models and APIs connecting lab systems, business systems, and dashboards into a coherent operational backbone.
• Set technical direction for architecture, code quality, CI/CD, testing, and observability across the engineering org.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and lab leadership to map requirements and translate needs into shipped software.
• Mentor engineers, act as a technical escalation point, and contribute to company-wide CI/CD and testing practices.
