Job summary

Greenhouse is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer for the Employer Experience & Talent Discovery team. You will build search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and apply AI/ML to matching and ranking.

You’ll mentor peers and collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Applied ML partners to deliver high-quality employer experiences. You’ll work across the stack on Talent Matching and Rediscovery, designing scalable, relevant search, ranking, and retrieval.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production code experience.
• Deep experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch in production.
• Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React.
• Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and frontend development.
• Experience building search, ranking, or matching systems.
• Practical AI/ML techniques in production, e.g., embeddings or semantic search.
• Collaborating with Product and Design in ambiguous, user-facing problems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define requirements and drive development.
• Build and improve full-stack experiences for Talent Matching and related workflows.
• Design and ship search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Develop matching systems using AI/ML signals to improve match quality.
• Partner with Applied ML and cross-functional teams to balance relevance, latency, and cost.
• Mentor junior engineers, review code, and shape engineering practices.
