Job summary

WEX, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full-stack focus) to join the Mobility Engineering team. This remote role requires proximity to major US hubs and offers the opportunity to shape the Beyond Fuel and Expense Management platform.

You will work on web, mobile, and backend components, designing APIs, data models, and integrations. Collaborative culture with security and reliability at the core.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of secure API design and data protection.
• Experience with testing and observability.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture, design, and implementation of the platform.
• Build full-stack capabilities across UI, backend, APIs, and integrations.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs and milestones.
• Design reusable APIs for web, mobile, and partner experiences.
• Establish patterns for payment workflows and reconciliation.
• Evaluate tech options with tradeoffs for performance and security.
• Write production code and review contributions across the stack.
• Participate in design/code reviews and improve engineering practices.
• Ensure automated testing, observability, and secure development.
• Build production readiness with logs, tracing, metrics.
• Use AI tools throughout development and document outputs.
• Collaborate with leadership to manage dependencies and risks.
• Own technical outcomes from implementation to deployment.
