Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Engineer 4 to drive a major transformation across the company. You’ll lead a portfolio of projects, mentor engineers, and deliver cloud-based solutions using Java, Python, AWS and modern frameworks.

As part of an agile team, you will define service boundaries, contribute to design standards, and push for performance and reliability in distributed systems. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals and a passion for learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
• Mentor engineers, share tech trends, and participate in communities.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions.
• Utilize Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and AWS tools in distributed systems.
• Provide technical leadership and establish design and operational standards.
• Define service boundaries and reusable integration patterns with architects.
• Refactor proactively to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Influence long-term technology strategy in a build-it-own-it environment.
