Job summary

BigBear.ai is building a small, elite development team to deliver cloud-native applications for mission operations. You will design, build, and deliver end-to-end systems, from databases to APIs and user interfaces, in a classified environment.

Seeking a senior developer with deep Python expertise and frontend craftsmanship. Expect strong security practices, RBAC auth, and DevSecOps in a regulated setting with AI-assisted tooling daily.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development.
• Python backend development with Django, FastAPI, or similar; async/ASGI.
• Frontend development with React/Next.js in production systems.
• REST API design including Backend-for-Frontend patterns and schema validation.
• PostgreSQL schema design, optimization, migrations.
• AWS experience delivering and operating apps in classified partitions.
• Terraform IaC experience.
• Keycloak or OIDC/SAML/CAC-PIV authentication integration.
• Secure development in STIG-hardened, FIPS-validated environments.
• GitLab CI/CD and Git workflows.
• DevSecOps scan remediation (SAST/DAST/SCA/SBOM).
• Daily use of AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver end-to-end apps from DB to API to UI.
• Support platform while delivering pilots and MVPs for new requirements.
• Extend Django-based API gateway and services with modern patterns.
• Develop React/Next.js dashboards for operational workflows.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and data modernization.
• Integrate Keycloak for authentication/authorization with RBAC.
• Deploy and operate apps across AWS partitions and classification levels.
• Contribute to IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD (GitLab).
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve velocity and quality.
