Job summary

Capital One seeks Full-stack Software Engineers to lead diverse technology projects and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will work on distributed microservices, full stack systems, and cloud-based solutions using Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, and TypeScript across AWS tools and services.

Strong emphasis on architectural standards, refactoring, and performance in a regulated financial context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• 7+ years of experience coding with multiple languages (Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala).
• 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• 4+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with front-end JS/TS frameworks.
• 4+ years creating APIs (synchronous and asynchronous).
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• 3+ years using Git-based version-control systems.
• 3+ years troubleshooting cloud environments.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools.
• 1+ year mentoring engineers.
• 1+ year observability and performance optimization in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and stay current with tech trends.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for financial empowerment.
• Utilize Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript and cloud databases across AWS ecosystems.
• Provide technical leadership and set standards for design, development, and operations.
• Partner with architects to define service boundaries and reusable frameworks.
• Identify areas for refactoring to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Influence long-term tech strategy within a 'you build it, you own it' culture.
